7 on the Wall opening @ Sunset Winery

Well…….. I FINALLY made it to the opening night of an exhibition I am participating in.

How pathetic is that you ask? I find the drive back in the dark, with potential kangaroos, wallabies & possums moving across the road in front of the car, very stressful and until last night it was just all too hard. Luckily friends who wanted to go were kind enough to meet me at a corner not too far from home and that made a BIG difference!

It was a nice evening, lots of people turned up and Fleur was surprised I made it. I didn’t tell her “just in case” I couldn’t make it.

Sophie Lewis put on an amazing performance with the dance of the Seven veils and the basement of the winery was magically transformed for the exhibition with gorgeous fabrics draped across the wall and it was all very nice!

I feel very honoured to be exhibiting my line SimplyBea alongside Diana Keir, Fred Peters, Janine Mackintosh, Jenny Clapson, Mark Capon & Neil Sheppard.

My theme was The Seven Chakras

There were lots of favourable comments on my bracelets and it made it all so very worthwhile putting in that extra effort and the twinges in my left hand…… and it was oh so very nice chatting with the lovely Suzanne from Melbourne who was the first person to buy two of the Seven Chakra bracelets.

A fantastic way to wear all seven Chakras at one time and the beads are textured so they are also great as “worry beads”.

It is always nice to know where my pieces go to and how they are perceived. All in all…… a very exciting evening after an eventful day.

A “blip” at work which set off an anxiety attack – I am going to have to handle that better because I know there will be more to come.

A fabulous surprise to be called by the Post Master saying….. “Bea – there’s a parcel for you, it has JUST arrived…….!” ……. YES…. it was from the USA…… and it had my new baby, THE SCORPION!!!!

So now…. fun and games, trying to set it up…….. AND getting ready for the NEXT exhibition opening next week at Fine Art!

Catch you later – I am soooooo excited!!!!!

I have been busy……..

Well, I am a happy camper now…….. all 21 bracelets ready to go into the exhibition at Sunset Winery.

A whole lot of beads
21 bracelets all together!

The theme is 7 on the wall at Sunset featuring 7 artists and I picked the Chakra colours as my inspiration. Lots of glass beads (hours of fun on the torch) and it was a good exercise for me to work with colours I would normally not have used. Getting sets made up was another challenge as I am more for an intuitive, go-with-the-flow session on the torch.

All in all, a good challenge and it was hard on my hand but I am so pleased with the results and the satisfaction of having completed it all is just fantastic.

Well, there are obviously more but this is just a taste…………..

Calendula flowers from my garden…..

Some pics of the lovely Calendula flowers I have in the garden at the moment.

They are such a beautifully sunny yellow that it cheers me up straight away just looking at the flowers. They are so stunning and just the variations in yellow is amazing as well.

Well – I should have thought about taking the photo BEFORE HARVESTING the flowers that day but there are so many new flowers again today that I might get another pic later. I am so pleased that they have done well and apparently they self sow so I will have lots more plants and flowers from now on.

What a glorious morning……

After such a long period of intense cold, wet, wet days with strong gusty winds…… it is certainly nice to have a couple of days waking up to warm sunshine.

I took a nice leisurely walk down the driveway (2km return) and it was just nice not to have to brace against a gusty wind, walking in the dappled sunlight coming through the leaves and looking out for koalas in the trees………. very nice……..

I just LOVE my gum boots! Not a fashion item but I could not have made it through this winter without them. Here’s a pic of my daughter in her pink gum boots, outside my caravan.

The grass has been so wet with all the rain we have had in the last couple of weeks, I am glad Spring is here. The days are getting a bit warmer, we have more sunshine and *shhhhhhhh* for a little while the wind seems to have dropped out………

My Calendulas are flowering really well and I have been busy harvesting them for my balms, the patch is looking glorious with all the amazing yellows from the different plants. I had to ‘waste’ one batch as there were too many bugs in the flowers and I would not have been able to infuse the petals for my balms, so the bugs got the flowers instead. I do not use any pesticides on my herbs and plants.

Will try and post some more pics later but for now, my new glass is calling out to me in the caravan.

Have a great weekend everyone!

August……. September……..where has time gone???

Well, yes.. I knew it was going to be a busy period but I wasn’t prepared for the extra frustration from a healing hand.

My left hand has “good days” and “bad days” and there have been quite a few of the latter recently.

I am not giving up and it has actually made me rethink and review how I do things so that I have had to change the way I hold my tools and how I am working on the torch but it is not bad, just frustrating because I was going on “auto pilot” and this has given me a reality chack sp it must be the current message from the univers for me in this moment.

Live in the NOW and BE PRESENT.

On the up side……………..

My daughter has moved back to Australian and is in Melbourne so she is closer, hopefully I will get to spend more quality time with her if I can convince her she needs to regenerate and recharge often with trips back to the island……. of course it will also mean I get to go to the ‘Big Smoke’ to chill out with her…..

We have just had a really wonderful week with her visiting me on the island and we’ve had a good variety of rest, good food, outdoor activities and though it started with some really wet and wild weather, the last couple of days have been really nice and the sun has come through the rain and stayed for a while.

Tomorrow will be a sad day when I take her to the airport but at least we have had a great week together.

Other stuff……. well, I am sooooo excited…… I got an email late last night just as I was heading off to bed and my new torch is ready to be shipped!!!

Can I wait? Barely……. hold me down, I am sooooooo excited!!!!

Now to get those beads out of the kiln from last night, clean them and see what I can do with them……….
